Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a performer that was born in Newark New Jersey on the 9th of August 1963. The parents of her are gospel stars Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard), and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne warwick also sings. She began singing in a choir at the church she attended The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark in the early years of her childhood and at fifteen, she was singing back vocals professionally along with her mother on Chaka Khan's hit song from 1978 Im Every Woman. She went on to provide back vocals to Jermaine and Lou Rawls as well as her own mother. She also did a brief stint as models for the front cover of Seventeen magazine in the year 1981. The film, and her performance in it were not very popular, however the soundtrack and her rendition of the song by Dolly Parton I Will Always Love You charted for several months on the charts and she sold nearly 44 million singles and albums across the globe. In the same year she welcomed her daughter Bobbi she married Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. Around this time, her drug abuse became well documented and she started using it daily until 1996.
