Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens better known by her stage name Queen Latifah, is an American performer and actress. Queen Latifah's career in television and music has earned her an Golden Globe award two Screen Actors Guild Awards two Image Awards a Grammy Award and six more Grammy nominations, an Emmy Award nomination and an Academy Award nomination. Queen Latifah was born in and raised in Newark New Jersey the daughter of Rita teacher who taught at Irvington High School and Lancelot Owens Sr. an officer in the police force. The couple divorced when Latifah was 10 years old. Latifah was born and brought up within Newark New Jersey attended Catholic schools in Newark. Latifah refers to gentle and gentle. The name was given by her cousin to her at the age of aged eight. Being a tall girl, her height of 5'10 inches Latifah was a power forward for the basketball team at her high school.
